Prayer is something that many people have trouble with. Most people I know do not like saying prayers aloud with others. They see it as scary or something they may mess up. Part of this I believe stems from the fact that we do not pray enough on our own. Sure we may pray when we know others need help. We may pray at meals on and on Sunday, but how many of us pray all the time?
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." Ephesians 6:18
I had the fortune to have a couple great experiences with some of our youth. One links directly to the text above. During our recent Confirmation interviews, one of the young ladies ( I forget which) expressed this thought "What if we woke up tomorrow with only the things that we prayed for today?" WOW! Life would be really bleak if we only prayed for the trials and tribulations of our days.
Secondly, Alyssa shared with us here recent experience with prayer. She was in the school musical and before the performance she felt the desire to pray. She asked for any others in the group who wanted to pray to join her. And about 20 of these kids joined in prayer. And then on another occasion, she spontaneously called a group of friends together to pray for a friend who was in need. That is amazing. How often do we not listen to our hearts and stop for a moment of prayer? How often do we seek our community of friends (who we may or may not know their beliefs) to lift up those in need?
Amazing stuff Ladies! Keep it up!
